This is a circle dance to be performed with an even number of women. Before you begin, make sure that you have a partner. The dance will start onstage with everyone next to their partner.

After the first 8 counts, lift-drop-slides in a circle. Remember: the lift comes from squeezing the tuckus on the side that you want to lift. The drop comes from squeezing the opposite side. The slide is pure abdominal muscles.

This section is 20 measures long. The easy way to count it out it to listen for when the drum complexity increases; You are now 8 measures from the next section
Tonal instruments begin: raise hands (quickly) to meet palms with your neighbor. Look to the right as you do this and trust the person to your left to match hands with you.
 I I I I   I I I I     I I I I   I I I I  16 counts of grapevine to the right (including however long it took you to get into position)

Partner sequence:
Turn to face your partner. Slowly give energy to your partner (hand rising for 4 counts), then release (hand falling for 4 counts).
Quick shift into the hips (right side first):
drop-drop-drop-drop -switch sides- drop-drop-drop-drop
Now cross your right foot over your left and pass your partner, left shoulder to left shoulder, taking 3 more quick steps on the beat (making 4 steps total). End exactly where your partner was standing, but turned slightly to face the next person.
This is your new partner.
Repeat 4 times total.
At the end of the partner sequence, notice who you are facing. She will be your first partner the next time you repeat the partner sequence.
Repeat the entire dance from the first grapevine.
During the second repeat of the partner sequence, the flute will disappear and a drum solo will begin. When you hear the drum solo begin, finish your hip drops, but do not move onto the next partner. Instead, turn to face the front and begin shoulder triples with a level (down & up) as a bow to the audience before exiting with hip lifts (L-arms) as the music fades out.
Note that during the level, whoever is in front is in the lead and everyone else should go down & up at the same speed that she does. When she is all the way up, she will turn to her left. As she does this, everyone else will face counterclockwise (the same direction as you were traveling a the beginning of the dance) and follow the person in front of you like an uncoiling snake as she leads it step-hipping offstage.
